Resolution of a Vector

A vector can be resolved into components parallel and perpendicular to $$\vec b$$:

$$\vec a=\vec a_\parallel+\vec a_\perp$$

where:

$$\vec a_\parallel=\frac{\vec a\cdot\vec b}{|\vec b|^2}\vec b$$

Usage

- Used when a vector needs to be decomposed along a chosen direction.
