Distance Between a Point and a Line Using Cross Product

For point $$p$$ with position vector $$\vec p$$ and line:

$$\vec r=\vec a+\lambda\vec d$$

the distance is:

$$d=\frac{|(\vec p-\vec a)\times\vec d|}{|\vec d|}$$

Usage

- Gives the shortest perpendicular distance from a point to a line.
