The normal form is:

where:

$$l^2+m^2+n^2=1$$

Terminology

- $$l,m,n$$: Direction cosines of the normal.

- $$p$$: Perpendicular distance of the plane from the origin.

Usage

- Useful when the normal direction and distance from the origin are known.
