Local Maximum

A function has a local maximum at $$x=c$$ if there exists a neighbourhood of $$c$$ such that:

$$f(x)\leq f(c)$$

for all $$x$$ in that neighbourhood.

Usage

- Used to identify points where the function changes from increasing to decreasing.
