Focal Distances in Parametric Form

For:

$$P(a\cos\theta,b\sin\theta)$$

and foci:

$$S_1(-c,0),\quad S_2(c,0)$$

the focal distances are:

$$PS_1=a+c\cos\theta$$

$$PS_2=a-c\cos\theta$$

Usage

- Used to calculate distances from a parametric point to the two foci directly.
