Length of Tangent from an External Point

For an external point $$P(x_1,y_1)$$, if $$PT$$ is a tangent to the ellipse, then:

$$PT^2=a^2\left(\frac{x_1^2}{a^2}+\frac{y_1^2}{b^2}-1\right)$$

Usage

- Used to calculate the tangent length from a point outside the ellipse.
