Top 5 Common Mistakes to Avoid in JEE Purification & Characterisation PYQs

1. Confusing simple and fractional distillation

Simple distillation is generally used when the difference in boiling points is large. Fractional distillation is used for miscible liquids with closer boiling points.

Crystallisation works only when there is a suitable difference in solubility between the compound and its impurities.
