JEE Advanced Previous Papers

JEE Advanced is widely regarded as one of the toughest undergraduate entrance exams in the world. The questions are intentionally made to test deep conceptual understanding. If you are aiming for the IITs, it becomes absolutely necessary to solve JEE Advanced previous year papers. They give you a real sense of how multi-concept problems are framed, how the difficulty has evolved over the years, and what kind of thinking is expected from you on exam day.

How to Use JEE Advanced Previous Papers Effectively for Preparation

JEE Advanced PYQ papers demand a different strategy than JEE Main papers. The questions test multi-concept application, so simply reading solutions is not enough. Here is how to get real value from each paper:

  • Attempt only after completing NCERT and standard reference books for all three subjects
  • Simulate real exam conditions strictly: 3 hours per paper, no mobile, no breaks, strict time discipline
  • Solve Paper 1 and Paper 2 on separate days to match the actual two-paper format
  • After each paper, identify which concept combinations you failed to connect, not just which topics you got wrong
  • Maintain an error notebook with the type of mistake: conceptual gap, calculation error, or misread question
  • Revisit the solution for every question you could not solve, even those you eventually skipped
  • Prioritize papers from 2016 onward for the most relevant question styles, while using older papers for extra concept depth

For daily structured practice alongside JEE Advanced PYQ solving, the JEE Daily Target keeps your preparation on a consistent schedule with topic-wise questions every day.

JEE Advanced Chapter-wise Important Topics

Solving JEE Advanced Previous Year Question Papers consistently reveals which chapters demand the most conceptual depth. These are the chapters that appear repeatedly in high-difficulty formats:

  • Mathematics: Definite Integration, Differential Equations, Complex Numbers, Probability, Matrices and Determinants, 3D Geometry, Conic Sections
  • Physics: Rotational Dynamics, Electromagnetic Induction, Fluid Mechanics, Modern Physics (Photoelectric Effect, Radioactivity), Wave Optics, Capacitors and Electric Field
  • Chemistry: Organic Reaction Mechanisms, Electrochemistry, Chemical Equilibrium, Coordination Chemistry, Thermodynamics (both Physical and Chemical), p Block Elements

JEE Advanced PYQ questions in these chapters frequently combine two or more concepts in a single problem. Solving these topics in isolation from textbooks is not sufficient; you need to practise multi-concept applications specifically through past papers.

Which is Better: JEE Advanced Previous Papers or Mock Tests?

Both serve different purposes and the strongest preparation strategy uses both, not one or the other. The key difference for JEE Advanced specifically is that the exam's complexity makes PYQ analysis more critical than it is for JEE Main:

  • JEE Advanced Previous Year Question Papers show you the actual depth NTA and IITs expect, including multi-concept traps, partial marking traps, and question formats that rotate unpredictably across years
  • Mock tests expose you to fresh unseen questions at Advanced-level difficulty, build stamina for the 3-hour paper format, and simulate the two-paper structure across a full exam day
  • The right approach: solve PYQs from 2016 to 2026 first to internalize the exam's thinking style, then shift to Advanced-level mock tests in the final 4 to 6 weeks before the exam for pressure simulation

Practice JEE Advanced PYQ on this page by clicking Take Test on any paper above. For full-length simulated Advanced-level exams with fresh questions, attempt a JEE Advanced Mock Test to complete your preparation.

Start with the most recent JEE Advanced Previous Year Question Paper above and work backward. Every paper you solve and analyze carefully is a step closer to understanding how IITs think, and that is what the exam ultimately rewards.
