Scalar Multiplication

If $$\lambda$$ is a scalar:

$$\lambda\vec a=\lambda(a_1\hat i+a_2\hat j+a_3\hat k)$$

Therefore:

$$\lambda\vec a=\lambda a_1\hat i+\lambda a_2\hat j+\lambda a_3\hat k$$

Usage

- Used to change the magnitude of a vector or reverse its direction when $$\lambda<0$$.
