Standard Unit Vectors

The standard Cartesian unit vectors are:

$$\hat i=\text{unit vector along }x\text{-axis}$$

$$\hat j=\text{unit vector along }y\text{-axis}$$

$$\hat k=\text{unit vector along }z\text{-axis}$$

Their magnitudes are:

$$|\hat i|=|\hat j|=|\hat k|=1$$

Usage

- Used as the basis vectors for expressing vectors in three dimensions.
