Bernoulli Substitution

For:

$$\frac{dy}{dx}+P(x)y=Q(x)y^n$$

put:

$$v=y^{1-n}$$

Then:

$$\frac{dv}{dx}=(1-n)y^{-n}\frac{dy}{dx}$$

Usage

- Converts the Bernoulli equation into a linear equation in $$v$$.

Question 1

Let $$y(x)$$ be a non-zero, differentiable function satisfying the differential equation

$$x^3 \frac{dy}{dx} - x^2 y = y^4 \cos x \quad (x > 0)$$

If $$\lim_{x \to \pi} y(x) = \left(\frac{5}{\pi^3}\right)^{-1/3}$$, then the value of $$\lim_{x \to \pi/2} \left(\frac{x^3}{y(x)^3}\right)$$ is:
