Equation of Line: Point-Slope Form

## Formula

A line passing through $$(x_1,y_1)$$ with slope $$m$$ is:

$$y-y_1=m(x-x_1)$$

## Usage

- Used when one point on the line and its slope are known.

Question 1

The hypotenuse of a right-angled isosceles triangle lies along the line $$4x + 3y = 5$$. Let $$V$$ be the vertex opposite to the hypotenuse. If the reflection of $$V$$ with respect to the line $$2x + 3y = 5$$ is $$V'(-1, -2)$$, then the equations of the two perpendicular sides of the triangle are:

Question 2

Find the orthocentre of the triangle formed by the lines $$x + y = 7$$, $$3x + 4y = 25$$, and $$x + 2y = 10$$.

Question 3

Consider the variable line $$x(3\lambda + 1) + y(7\lambda + 2) = 17\lambda + 5$$, where $$\lambda$$ is a real parameter. All such lines pass through a fixed point $$P$$. Let $$L$$ be the specific line from this family that is farthest from the origin. If the distance of $$L$$ from the point $$(3, 6)$$ is $$d$$, then the value of $$d^2$$ is:
