CAT 2022 was quite challenging, given the uncertainty involved with the exam pattern. While the difficulty level varied across sections, almost all three slots could be classified under the 'moderate-difficult' label. The passages in the verbal section were tedious to read. Although the questions were mainly of the inference type, the presence of ambiguous options made them tricky to attempt. A new question type replaced the out-of-context parajumbles in the verbal ability segment of the test.
The LRDI section was tricky: this time, there were 4 sets with 5 questions each. Set selection was imperative: the primary challenge was to select the right sets and solve them in the limited 40 minutes available. (While the reasoning sets were time-intensive to solve, the data interpretation set was a life-saver). The Quant section was also challenging, with several time-intensive questions.
A score of ~43% should be sufficient for getting into the top 1 percentile of the test-takers. A score of ~38% should be sufficient to breach the 97th percentile mark.
