Standard Hyperbolic Substitution

For:

$$\sqrt{x^2+a^2}$$

one may use:

$$x=a\sinh t$$

then:

$$\sqrt{x^2+a^2}=a\cosh t$$

Usage

- Used as an alternative to trigonometric substitution for quadratic radicals.
