Slope of Tangent and Normal

If the radius at a point has slope $$m_r$$, then:

$$m_t=-\frac1{m_r}$$

and:

$$m_n=m_r$$

Terminology

- $$m_t$$ → Slope of tangent.

- $$m_n$$ → Slope of normal.

- $$m_r$$ → Slope of radius.

Usage

- Used to obtain tangent or normal equations from the slope of the radius.
