External Common Tangents

For two circles with centre distance $$d$$ and radii $$r_1,r_2$$, the length of the direct common tangent segment is:

$$L=\sqrt{d^2-(r_1-r_2)^2}$$

Usage

- Used to find the length of the common external tangent between two non-intersecting circles.
