Reaction with $$\text{NH}_2\text{OH}$$ (Hydroxylamine)

Rarely Tested

$$\text{HOCH}_2(\text{CHOH})_4\text{CHO} + \text{NH}_2\text{OH} \to \text{HOCH}_2(\text{CHOH})_4\text{CH=N--OH} + \text{H}_2\text{O}$$

$$\text{Glucose} + \text{NH}_2\text{OH} \to \text{Glucose Oxime} + \text{H}_2\text{O}$$

Concept: Glucose reacts with hydroxylamine ($$\text{NH}_2\text{OH}$$), a nucleophilic carbonyl reagent, to undergo a nucleophilic addition-elimination reaction. The amino group of hydroxylamine attacks the carbonyl carbon of glucose, eliminating a molecule of water to form a stable oxime derivative (glucose oxime).
