For:

$$S_\infty=\frac{a}{1-r}$$

the sum from the $(n+1)$th term onward is:

$$R_n=ar^n+ar^{n+1}+ar^{n+2}+\cdots$$

Therefore:

$$R_n=\frac{ar^n}{1-r}$$

for:

$$|r|<1$$

- Used to find the remaining sum after a finite number of terms of a convergent GP.
