CAT Scheduling questions and answers (Solutions): (1 to 4)

1) Answer (C)

2) Answer (A)

3) Answer (C)

4) Answer (D)

From (iii) and (iv) the speeches at Jalandhar and Hyderabad could be positioned at (6,3) or at (2,5). From (ii), Agra is scheduled immediately after Gurgaon. Thus, the following two combinations are possible

From (v), for Case I, Lucknow should be present at position 1 or 2. For Case II, from (i), Lucknow should be present at position 6 or 7. From (vi), the speech at Hyderabad should be scheduled between that at Gurgaon and Varanasi. Thus, for case I, Varanasi should be scheduled at position 1 or 2 and for Case II, Varanasi should be scheduled at position 6 or 7. The table will be as follows:

From the above table we can see that even if Hyderabad and Varanasi cannot be scheduled one after the other, there would be two cases possible. In one case Jalandhar will be position 6 and in the other case, Lucknow will be at position 6. Thus, D is the right choice.
