Two numbers are 40% and 80% lesser than a third number. By how much percent is the second number to be enhanced to make it equal to the first number?

Solution

Let the third no. be x

Then , 1st no. = x - 40x/100 = 60x/100

2nd no. = x - 80x/100 = 20x/100

1st no. : 2nd no. = 60x/100 : 20x /100 => 3:1

Required % = ( 2/1) × 100 = 200%
