i. Two vowels can be arranged together in 120 ways
ii. Vowels do not occur together in 240 ways

Which of the above statements are true?

Solution

Let's check both the statements one by one:

(i) Two vowels together - (2!)*(5!) = 2*120 = 240

So we can say that statement (i) is wrong

(ii) Two vowel not together = Total ways - Vowels together

= (6!) - (2!)*(5!) = 720 - 240 = 480

hence statement (ii) is also incorrect.
