Inverse Tangent Addition Formula

## Formula

$$\tan^{-1}x+\tan^{-1}y=\tan^{-1}\left(\frac{x+y}{1-xy}\right)$$

with the appropriate $$\pi$$ adjustment when required.

## Usage

- Used to combine two inverse tangent expressions.

Question 1

Find the total number of real solutions of

$$\tan^{-1}\left(\frac{x}{1+2x^2}\right)+\tan^{-1}\left(\frac{x}{1+6x^2}\right)=\tan^{-1}(2x)-\tan^{-1}\left(\frac{x}{2}\right)$$
