Rarely Tested

Principal Value of $$\sin^{-1}x$$

## Formula

$$\sin^{-1}x\in\left[-\frac\pi2,\frac\pi2\right]$$

## Terminologies

- $$x$$ → Input of the inverse sine function.

- $$\sin^{-1}x$$ → Principal value of the angle whose sine is $$x$$.

## Usage

- Used to determine the correct value of an inverse sine expression.

Question 1

Given the function $$f(x) = \sin^{-1}\left(\frac{2x}{1+x^2}\right) + 2\tan^{-1}(x)$$ defined for all real numbers $$x$$. Let the maximum value of $$f(x)$$ be $$M$$ and the minimum value of $$f(x)$$ be $$m$$. If $$k$$ is the number of distinct real solutions of the equation $$f(x) = \frac{\pi}{2}$$, find the value of the expression:
$$\frac{M - m}{k\pi}$$
