Question 8

If a train overtakes two cyclists cycling at 15 km/hr and 20 km/hr, in the same direction as the train, in 72 seconds and 81 seconds respectively. Find the length of the train?

Question 13

Three cities A,B,C are equidistant from each other. Jessi and Jackie started from cities A, B respectively towards city C. By the time Jessie traveled 60 kms, Jessie, Jackie and C form a right angled triangle. By the time Jackie reached C, Jessie is still 90 kms from C. If Jackie reached C in 3 hours, how much more time will Jessie take to reach C?

Question 14

Three people Kiran, Kumar, and Kishore started running from the same point on a circular track. Kiran and Kumar run in the same direction whereas Kishore runs in the opposite direction. When Kiran and Kishore meet for the first time, Kumar is diametrically opposite Kiran. What is a possible ratio of speeds of Kiran, Kumar and Kishore respectively?

Question 15

Ashu and Nitesh are running on a straight road whose end points are P and Q. Ashu starts from P and Nitesh starts from Q. Both of them run towards each other. On reaching the opposite points, they turn back and move towards P and Q again. This process keeps on repeating and they always meet when they are travelling in opposite directions. The first point where they meet is 720 metres away from P and the point where they meet for the second time is 800 m from Q. How far(in m) from Q is their third meeting point ? (They run with the same speed for the entire duration)

Question 16

Ram and Shyam, who are standing 100 m away from each other, are throwing a Frisbee towards each other in a straight trajectory. Initially Ram has the Frisbee and as soon as he throws it towards Shyam, they both start moving towards each other. Shyam catches the Frisbee and throws it back to Ram and they keep throwing it until they meet each other. They both throw the frisbee at a speed of 20 m/s. If the frisbee travelled a total distance of 12 km and the speeds of Ram and Shyam are in the ratio of 2:3 respectively, find the speed of Shyam (in metres per min). (Assume that the time taken by Ram and Shyam to catch the frisbee and throwing it back again is negligible, and the frisbee travels at a uniform speed in the air)
