Question 28

A, B and C start a business. A invests $$33\frac{1}{3} \%$$ of the total capital, B invests 25%of the remaining and C invests the rest. If thetotal profit at the end of a year is ₹1,62,000, then A’s share in profit is:

Solution

Let the total investment be x
Investment of A = $$33\frac{1}{3} \%$$x = x/3
Remaining = x - x/3 = 2x/3
Investment of B = $$\frac{2x}{3} \times \frac{25}{100} = \frac{x}{6}$$
Investment of C = $$\frac{2x}{3} - \frac{x}{6} = \frac{x}{2}$$
Ratio of the investment of A, B and C = $$\frac{x}{3} : \frac{x}{6} : \frac{x}{2}$$ = 2 : 1 : 3
Total profit = 1,62,000
A’s share = 162000 $$\times \frac{2}{2 + 1 + 3} = 162000 \times \frac{2}{6} = Rs.54000
