I started my CAT preparation about 2 weeks ago. Should I start taking mocks already, and if yes, how frequently should I attempt them?

At this point, delaying mocks any further is recipe for disaster.
Start with 1 mock per week accompanied by 1 or 2 sectionals. Try to complete the high weightage topics like Arithmetic and Algebra ASAP.
Then you can increase the frequency to 2 mocks per week in October.
