After that Reginald Pocock subordinated the species under the genus Panthera using the scientific name Panthera tigris. Scientific name of peacock is Pavo cristatus. Peafowl is the common name for all the three species of birds under the genera Pavo and Afropavo. Male peafowl is called as Peacock and female peafowl is called as Peahen.
