There is a serious flaw in the NMAT material on Cracku. After scoring above 250 in Cracku mocks, I only managed to score 152 in today's actual NMAT exam. The reason is simply that nowhere in the Mocks, the heavy penalties imposed by the actual NMAT test for unattempted questions is factored in.

Hence, while I left many unattempted questions in Cracku Mocks, I did not face the stiff penalties of unattempted questions.

This is also not mentioned anywhere in the videos or even in the Mocks. A line or two in the Mock results screen can help a lot of students like me who are used to the CAT scoring system and may be taken in for a surprise by the vastly different NMAT scoring system. Please cover the concept of penalties on unattempted questions in NMAT in a more thorough manner.

If anyone has any doubts, I would like to state that my performance was more or less the same as in mocks. In fact, I managed to do a few more questions in LR than I usually did in mocks. But I left many questions unattempted as there was not enough coverage on this vital aspect of NMAT scoring.

Feel free to contact NMAT officials if you think, the marks were deducted for you for unattempted questions.

Due to NMAT scaling, if by any chance mistakes were made in easy questions (which could be due to exam pressure or small mistakes), the score goes down drastically.

@Altruist - The official mocks are expensive and the entire process of NMIMS registration is very expensive as well. If Cracku has mocks for which I have paid, then why should I not use them only? Secondly NMAT indeed has penalties for unattempted questions - It is written clearly at the start of the exam. Other coaching agencies are also confirming this.

@Sagar Gupta - Congratulations. I am not sure how your actual NMAT was but in my case, I performed same as how I performed in Mocks. Yet there was a remarkable difference in scores, the sole reason of which was that I left many questions unattempted.

There is no unattempted penalties in NMAT. I think you shouldve studied about NMAT beforehand. It has very very normalisation and scoring is very different in that exam. One should give the official mocks ONLY to get that idea.

bro i dont think nmat has negative marking for unattempted questions. That is only the case for XAT.
