Original height = h. Original base = b. Original area = hb/2. Now, new height = 1.4h new base = b` new area max = 0.8hb => 0.7hb` = 0.8hb => b` = 8b/7 % increase in base = ((8b/7-b)/b)*100 = 100/7 = 14.28 %
