Yes the answer will be 9
In my last solution, I ignored the fact that there is 1 player who has scored 20 goals.
solution - X1+X2+........+X15=240
X15 = 20 , X14 = 12
Now, X1+X2+...........X13= 208
At only 18*8+12*5 we get a value that is equal to or less than 208 i.e. 204
Hence there will maximum be 8+1 players who can score more than or equal to 18 goals

From online, got to know the answer is 9, but not sure how. can anybody please explain it to me in simpler words

There are 15 players with an average score of 16, so the total number of scores will be 250. Now 240/18 will give 13 with a remainder. Keeping in mind a player has to at least score 12 goals we will check from 12*18 and so on, that we will get us to the point where players with the least number of goals are the lowest and their total is 240, { (18*10)+(12*5) = 240 }
