My 2-Month Experience as a PGDM Student at IMI Kolkata

It’s been just two months since I started my PGDM at IMI Kolkata, and the experience has already been quite different from what I imagined.

The journey started with an orientation week from 9 AM to 6 PM. We had introductions, team activities and different sessions to help us settle into the new environment. Then came guest lectures and sessions focused on professional and soft skills, some of which stretched from 9 AM all the way to 9 PM.

At that point, I honestly thought, “This has to be the toughest schedule!” 😅

Then regular classes began.

Along with the classes, we started working on marketing simulation projects, preparing PPTs, class presentations and participating in case discussions. There’s always something to prepare for, so managing time has quickly become one of the biggest lessons.

But it isn’t all work.

One of the best parts has been meeting people from different cities, academic backgrounds and experiences. Despite the packed schedule, we still manage to find time to grab a coffee, have random conversations, laugh over things that happened during the day and simply unwind together.

Looking back at these two months, I think the biggest surprise has been how quickly you adapt to the pace.

PGDM isn’t just teaching me business concepts. It’s teaching me how to manage time, work with different people, handle pressure and still make room for the fun along the way.

Two months down, and there’s clearly a lot more to learn.
