Meena scores 40% in an examination and after review, even though her score is increased by 50%, she fails by 35 marks. if her post-review score is increased by 20% she will have 7 marks more than the passing score. the percentage score needed for passing the examination is

Let max marks = x
Meena marks = 40*x/100 = 0.4x
Post-review marks = 1.5*(0.4x) = 0.6x
Failed by 35 marks.
Therefore passing marks = 0.6x + 35

Now if +20% on post-review marks => Marks = 0.6*x(1.2) = 0,72*x = 7 more marks than passing

0.72*x = 0.6*x + 35 + 7
0.12*x = 42
x = 42*100/12 = 7*100/2 = 350 marks

Passing marks = 6*350/10 + 35 = 7*35
Pass % = ( 7*35/350 )* 100 = 70%
