I have quit my job from one of the top Automobile Companies in July since there was no time to prepare. Is that explainable to the interviewers? How much does it affect my chances?

It is totally explainable .Tell them how much CAT meant to you and how you utilized the free time productively. Many people leave their job's so it shouldn't affect your chances adversely.
