5 years, 4 months ago
Hi Vinutha,
The criteria for final selection of IIMK is
CAT scoe-35%
Personal interview-35%
WAT-20%
Resume-10%
IIMK has exclusively focuses on profile, general awareness and personality. They have no weightage to work-ex or acads.
One differentiating factor of IIMK is that they have 20% weight to WAT whereas other IIMs have 10 or less percent.
Hence, it is crucial you are well informed and have a clear stance.
They also have a weight seperate weight to your resume.
Hence, your personality traits, hobbies, work & academic achievements will play a major role here.
Strategies-
1st) We had a lot of sensational issues in the nation since past 1 year.
Do a thorough research about each of them. You need to have an opinion backed by a strong rationale.
The interviewer is always going to take a stance opposite to your, to put you off-guard. You need to anticipate what questions your interviewer is likely to pose and also how the interviewer is likely to cross you.
If you are well prepared, you should always be the one to guide the discussion. There is always brownie points for that. Irrespective of your opinion, it is important that you have a stance backed with strong rationale. You should be prepared for every loophole the interviewer will attack you on. Be proactive but not over-confident.
2nd)Interviews are all about knowing yourself in and out.
Prepare the best possible speech for the commonly asked questions
"Why MBA", "Why finance/marketing", "Tell me about yourself"
When you talk about them , let it be natural and not look rehearsed.
List out all possible crosses for each of these questions and chalk out ideal responses to each of them.
Be original and honest, interviewers love that the most.
Be direct and do not beat around the bush.
3rd)Hobbies-Pick a hobby small or big that you really love. Many times students try to falsely invent a hobby. Interviewers see through it easily.
Be original about what you are inclined to.
4th)You need to prove the credibility of work. This is super important. This is a factor which differentiates you from the rest. You gotto convince them that your work contributed to organisation's success. This will have a major impact on your resume as well. A sugar-coated way of selling your profile never works in interview. Realistically show your achievements and contributions.
5)"The devil is in the details". Lets say you are a trekker and you completed a big trek. Then, you got to know the region of that trek well, what river flows in that region, what is the condition of people there, what is their language/ethnicity. This is to show that you are a natually curious and a caring person. Such level of detail in what is important
6)Be humble and generous. Be humble with your thoughts and expression. There is always a sub-conscious bias towards it.
7)You get limited time in your interviews, you need to sound crisp and confident with your replies. Many able candidates miss out chances because of their inability to express. Do no be anxious, that will make you come-off as very serious in your interview. Be open and expressive. Only then will you be able to communicate effectively.
