Hello, I have a poor academic record. This is my profile. 10th SSC- 62.30% 12th HSC- 41.50% Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (MSBTE)- 65.07% with 4 Backlogs and 1 Drop BE in Instrumentation Engineering (Mumbai University)- CGPI- 5.76/10 with 14 Backlogs and 1 Drop Zero work experience. What percentile should I target to get a call from IIM? Also out of the 20 IIMs which are the IIMs where I have a chance if I perform really well in CAT. Thank you, Raj Upadhyay.

Hi Raj, You can rule out some top IIMs like the IIMA, K, I etc because there is a minimum eligibility criteria of 55% / 50% in 10th and 12th. IIMB, IIMC, IIML have a significant weight on acads, so your chance are again very feeble You will have to aim at 99.9+ to have a chance of getting a call from these institutes. With a score of 98.5+, you have a chance of getting into new IIMs Good luck:)

Irrespective of academic records, GEM candidates are required to score well above 99.8 %ile atleast to have a shot at the older IIMs. Coming back to your case, your XII score does meet the minimum criteria plus a score below 99.9%ile wont fetch you calls from any of the reputed institutes like MDI, FMS etc let alone old IIMs. So as of now forget about thinking of chances and study hard, score as much as you can.
