Gupta Chat Bhandar is very famous for its sev puri. A curious customer tries the recipe for Bhel by mixing Sev, Chatni, and puffed rice in the ratio 5:3:4. However, on tasting it, he realizes that the dish was still not up to the mark, so adds a little bit of chatni and sev. The ratio of the respective ingredients is now 4:5:3. If 132 gm of Chatni was added, find the amount of puffed rice in the Bhel.

In this question only the sev and chatni is added, puffed rice remains the same.
So we have to convert the ratio in such a way that puffed rice become same in both ratios.
So we multiply the first ratio by 3, which becomes 15:9:12
and we multiply the second ratio by 4, which becomes 16:20:12
Now puffed rice is same in both ratios.
we can see that the ratio for chatni is changed from 9 to 20, changed by 11. we also know that 132 grams of chatni was added.
In ratio chatni is changed by 11 and in reality the chatni was changed by 132 grams.
so we will divide 132 by 11 to get the multiplying factor.
132/11= 12
so if we multiply the ratios by 12, we will get the actual value.
old ratio- (15:9:12) x 12 = 180g:108g:144g
new ratio- (16:20:12) x 12 = 192g: 240g: 144g
As you can see puffed rice is 144g
