Iron pipes are used in a variety of applications in industries. Galvanization is the process of laying a coating of Zinc on Iron to prevent it from rust. This process stops oxygen and water reaching the metal underneath but the zinc also acts as a sacrificial metal. Zinc is more reactive than iron, so it oxidizes in preference to the iron object. Galvanized iron (GI) sheets are steel sheets which are basically coated with zinc and include a range of hot dip galvanized and electro-galvanized steel sheets.
