Four-fifth of the voters in bellary promised to vote for sonia and the rest promised to vote for sushma. Of there voters, 10% of the voters who had promised to vote for sonia, did not vote on the election day, while 20%of the voters who had promised to vote did not vote on the election day. Whqt is the total number of votes polled if sonia got 216 votes?

Let the total number of votes polled be 'x'
Votes to be received by Sonia = 0.8x
Votes received by Sonia = 0.9*0.8x
Votes to be received by Sushma = 0.2x
Votes received by Sonia = 0.8*0.2x
It is given,
0.9*0.8x = 216
x = 300
Total number of votes polled = 300
