In India, the Legal Age for Working is 14 years i.e. hiring children below the age of 14 years for any kind of work, other than in certain family-based work, is a cognizable offense. It will attract a jail term of up to 2 years and Adolescents/teens between the age of 14 to 18 years cannot be employed under hazardous occupation. The difficulty of tasks and severe working conditions create a lot of problems such as premature aging, malnutrition, depression, drug dependency, etc. Especially children from disadvantaged backgrounds, minority groups, or abducted from their families, have no protection.
