Can you please help me solve this question, I am not able to solve it. Eight students - A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H - went to four different places among Resort, Beach, Hotel and Cinema, such that each place was visited by two students each. Each student visited exactly one place. After their return, their teacher asked them about the place visited by each of them. Following were their answers: (i) A said "I did not go with C or D and went to the Resort or the Cinema". (ii) B said "I did not go with E or G and went to the Hotel or the Cinema. (iii) C said "I did not go with D or F and went to the Beach or the Resort. (iv) D said "I did not go with B or H and went to the Beach or the Hotel". (v) E said "I went with B or C or D or F or H and went to the Cinema or the Beach". (vi) F said "I did not go with A or G and went to the Resort or the Cinema". (vii) G said "I went with B or D or E or F or H and went to the Beach or the Hotel". (viii) H said "I did not go with C or A and went to the Resort or the Beach". 10. 10. ANSWER - (B) B SOLUTION - According to A, he/she did not go with C or D. According to F and H, they were not accompanied by A either. So the only options left are B, E and G. E claimed that he/she went with either of B, C, D, F and H. Hence we can conclude that A did not go with E. G claimed that he/she went with either of B, D, E, F and H. Hence we can conclude that A did not go with G too. So, from above conclusions, we can say that A went with B only, to the Cinema. 11. ANSWER- (A) C, Beach. SOLUTION- Firstly, let us eliminate the option (B) of Cinema as A and B have already went there & only 2 people went to the same place. So, E must have went to the Beach. E claimed that he/she went with either of B, C, D, F and H. Now, B and F can be eliminated according to previous conclusions (elimination of option (B) F,Cinema). H can also be eliminated as it is not an option for the given question. We are left with C and D. Other place that C could go to is Resort and D could go to the Hotel. We can notice that only B, D and G could have gone to the Hotel but B has already gone to Cinema. So, D and G must have went to the Hotel as they are the only 2 people left for that place and as per the question, 2 exactly people have been to each place. This means that, D did not went with E. So, only C could have gone to the Beach with E. 12. ANSWER- (B) F SOLUTION- Firstly, even if D and H lied about the places they visited, the previous answers would remain the same as D must not have been to the Beach either. Hence E must have gone with C only. Now, since D lied about the place, he did not go to Beach and Hotel. Also, since A and B went to Cinema, D did not go there as well. Therefore, D went to the only option left, i.e. the Resort. H also lied about the place that he visited, which means that H did not go to Resort or the Beach. Now, we must notice that D and H have lied ONLY about the places and not about the companion. So, D could have gone with either of A, C, E, F and G. We know that A accompanied B and C accompanied E. Hence, only F or G could have accompanied D. We also know that D went to the Resort, but G has claimed to visit either the Beach or the Hotel. Hence, D and G were not together. Therefore, only F went with D, to the Resort.
