I just gave me NMAT last night, and you should know that it's all about speed. There are 2 RC passages in between, and since you can't skip a question, and you can't go back to change an answer, you have to go through the rest of the questions quicker. The plus point is that most of the others are parajumbles, fill in the blanks, and word relations. For parajumbles, just pick the options, mostly, the first line and last line, which will help eliminate wrong answers, and get you the answer quickly. For fill in the blanks, just solve the blanks which have unique answers in all options. Word relations are hit and miss, even if you understand the relation in question, you might get confused because of a word you might not know. So, just try to find a similar relation in the words you know, and only choose the unknown option, if none match.
RC passages are thankfully not very hard, so try not to get stuck on them. 28 minutes pass very fast, if a question is not clicking, just click your best guess and move on, even giving 2-3 minutes on a question can reduce your overall score.

@Tejaswi, in terms of preparation, you don't need to prepare too much after CAT because this is definitely easier, so Study Room material should be sufficient, what you need to prepare for is the type of questions. You need to prepare yourself for using the options because all questions are MCQ type. So, whether for parajumbles, fill in the blanks or word relations, you should always go in the direction of options, don't try to get the answer by yourself, just use the options as much as you can. More often than not, the answer will show itself within seconds if you just match all of the options with the question.
Also, just because you can't return to a question, doesn't mean you have to reach an answer to every question, even if you know that you can. Time is key. Just make a good guess and move on.
I think I lost a few questions in Quants section at the end which were easy, because I just had to solve that one question that had a lot of calculations about simple and compound interest in the middle. Quants still gives you some time, VA doesn't. The passages especially take up a lot of time, so make sure you are keeping track of time, so that you can reach the end, and answer the simpler questions after the lengthy passages.
