Any strategy to score 40-42 marks in VARC section? (expecting all PJs to be incorrect) Seeking immediate answer from the peers. Thanks
Trust me It does not work like this i went with same Strategy and ended with just 96%.. OK let me Give you a-gist of what actual CAT VARC section is made up of if you have not solved previous year CAT paper..You can verify this in last 3 year papers ..One RC is always hard it is just there to waste time we call them "Sitters" cause there time to marks value is quite bad try not attempting that one RC.. Last year it was Tropophilia ..So you left with 12 questions out of which 10 can be achieved .
PARA SUMMARY IS SCORING ATTEMPT THEM AFTER SOLVING 2 SETS OF RC . IT MIGHT HELP.
GET THE BASE OF RC IN FIRST MINUTE ATTEMPT THE ONES WHICH YOU MIGHT FEEL IS A BIT EASY.
Don't go into the VARC with a target in mind . Just Solve qns . 42 marks can mean anywhere between 95-99 percentile depending on LOD. If Varc is not your strongest section , focus on Facts based qns from the RC which can be solved by reading the passage with focus. Inference based qns you have to pick and choose. Even the most difficult RC will have 1-2 fact based qns.
Reading qns before reading the passage helps . Look out for qns like Which of these is least likely the writer will agree with? What is the meaning of the last line of the second paragraph ? This will allow you to focus on relevant section of the Difficult RCs,
@Apoorv Yes exactly. I've been through past papers, so you're saying that one should master PJs to score 40+ marks? I need to know bcz I'm so poor at attempting PJs.
@Apoorv Pal, If I'm not wrong there'll still be 4 RCs in the new pattern that'll comprise of 4 questions each which sets the maximum limit to 48 marks. And when i say PJs I mean PJs not the OOO questions. So apart from PJs we still have 20 question to attempt which I guess with right strategy can fetch 40-42 marks. Hope you can help out on this.
Not possible your RC section will fetch you 36 marks if all right..Which has never happened in CAT..Cause 2-3 questions are designed to be wrong.You can get max 30 out of RC..
