Hi, you are getting the answer as around 45 as you are also calculating the cost when anil purchased in back from Bina.
In the solution this was not done.

Therefore the difference in the 2 answers.

Hope this helps!

let, the initial cost price for anil be Rs.100
he then sold it to bina at 40% profit = bina's cp= Rs. 140 (anil's profit Rs.40)
the bina sold it back to anil at 20% loss = Rs. 112 (anil's new cp)
he then sold it to charu for 50% profit =Rs. 56 (anil's profit)
total profit of anil = 40+56= 96 which is 96%
