Answer Let total number of pens be X and wage of employee be W Now according to 1st case , profit = SP - CP Here SP = 12*100 + 11(X-100) = 11X + 100 and CP = 8X + W Hence, 300 = 11X + 100 - 8X - W => W = 3X - 200 ---(1) According to 2nd case, Loss = CP - SP, Here SP = 12*100 + 9(X-100) = 9X + 300 and CP = 8X + W and Loss = 300 => 8X + W - 9X - 300 = 300 From (1), W = 3X - 200 and putting in above eqn. => 8X+3X-200-9X-300 = 300 => X = 400 and W = 3*400-200 = 1000 Hence W = Rs 1000
