As we can select from only 3 out of 5, and no of friends to be selected is also 3 so answer is only 1 way.

I think Jeevan's answer would be right if the items are identical, but here the question asks to select 3 out of 5 (leaving out 2) people (who are not identical). Since you can leave out 2 people out of 5 in 5C2 = 10 ways, I think the correct answer should be 10.
