Given,
Speed of the boat in still water = 15 km/hr
Downstream Time = 16 min Upstream Time = 24 min
Let, Speed of the Stream = x km/hr
Downstream speed = 15+x Upstream speed = 15-x
Distance covered in Downstream = Distance covered in Upstream (S*T=D)
(15+x)16/60 = (15-x)24/60
(15+x)2 = (15-x)3
30+2x = 45-3x
5x = 15
x = 3
Hence, Speed of the stream = 3km/hr
