11. In an election between two candidates, 15% of voters did not vote, 3900 votes were declared invalid and the winner got 57% of the valid votes and won by 1120 votes. Find the total number of voters enrolled in the voting list? (A) 15000 voters (B) 18000 voters (C) 14000 voters (D) 16000 voters

(C) The difference b/w the winner and the loser is 14% which corresponds to 1120 votes; hence total no of casted votes will be 1120/0.14=8000 Now, the total no of voters who are willing to vote is 3900+8000=11900 Total no. of voters enrolled= 11900/0.85=14000

Hi Shubham, The winner got 57% of the valid votes. This implies the other candidate secured 43% of the valid votes. It is given, winner won by 1120 votes. Therefore, 14% of valid votes = 1120 Valid votes = 1120*100/14 = 8000 Let the total number of voters enrolled be 'x'. It is given, 15% of voters did not votes. This implies 85% of voters voted. 85/100(x) = 8000+3900 17x/20 = 11900 x = 14000 The answer is option C. Hope this helps!

aren't the 15% valid too if they are not then the answer 14000 if they are valid then the answer is 7762
