Mr X invested a certain amount in Debt and equity Funds in the ratio of 4:5. At the end of one year he earned a total dividend of 30% on his investment.After one year he reinvested the amount including the dividend in the ratio of 6:7 in Debt and Equity Funds.If the amount reinvested in Equity Funds was rs 94,500,what was the original amount invested in Equity Funds ?

Let the original amount invested be x.

Hence, the amount with him after recieving the dividend is 1.3x.

Now, this amount was reinvested in ratio 6:7 in debt and equity funds. Amount invested in equity fund was 94,500

Hence, (0.7x/1.3)=94,500, x=175500

now, the original amount invested in equity was (5/9)*175500=97,500

Question 112

The age of the father is 30 years more than the son’s age.Ten years hence the father’s age will become three times the son’s age that time.What is the son’s present age in years?

Let the son age be x and fathers age be y.

The solution is obtained by solving two simultaneous equations as per given conditions,

x=y+10 and x+10=3(y+10)

Hence, y = 5

If the length of a rectangular field is increased by 20% and the breadth is reduced by 20% the area of the rectangle will be $$192m^{2}$$. What is the area of the original rectangle ?

Hence, area = 1.2L*.8B=192

Now L*B=200, but original area = L*B= 200

The product of one-third of a number and 150% of another number is what per cent of the product of the original numbers ?

Now, the product of number and another number = x*y

As per given condition, new product (x/3)*1.5y=0.5xy

Now, per cent of the product of the original numbers= (0.5xy/xy)*100=50

Inside a square plot,a circular garden is developed which exactly fits in the square plot and the diameter of the garden is equal to the side of the square plot which is 28 meters. What is the area of the space left out in the square plot after developing the garden ?

Area of circular plot = (22/7)*14*14=22*28
Area of square plot= 28*28
Difference of areas= 28*28-22*28=168

Amit and sujit together can complete an assignment of data entry in five days. Sujit’s speed 80% of Amit’s speed and the total key depressions in the assignment are 5,76,000. What is Amit’s speed in key depressions per hour if they work for 8 hours a day ?

Profit earned by organisation is distributed among officers and clerks in the ratio of 5:3 If the number of officers is 45 and the number of clerks is 80 and the amount received by each officer is rs 25,000 what was the total amount of profit earned ?

As per given condition, the labelled price will be 1.3x.
Discounted price will be 0.9*1.3x= 1.17x
Now, Profit = Price at which item was sold - Cost Price = 1.17x - x = .17x = 17% of Cost price.
