SNAP Series and Progressions Questions 2026
The Quantitative, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency section of the SNAP exam 2026 tests your command of core maths concepts, your calculation speed and how quickly you can choose the right approach. Series and Progressions is a high-scoring topic in this section. It also links to other Quant areas such as algebra, number system and even data interpretation.
Many students find Series and Progressions questions confusing because they mix several ideas: arithmetic progressions (AP), geometric progressions (GP), harmonic progressions (HP), special series and number patterns. However, most SNAP questions on this topic are direct and can be solved in under a minute once you know the right formula. The real challenge is spotting whether a question is about an AP, a GP or a pattern, not the calculation itself.
SNAP is a speed-based exam, so you need to solve these questions quickly and accurately. Practising a wide range of questions helps you recognise common patterns, such as nth term, sum of n terms and missing-number series, and saves valuable time in the exam.
Aim to solve at least 10 to 15 Series and Progressions questions daily, mixing easy, moderate and tricky ones, so you are ready for any question type on exam day.
SNAP Series and Progressions Questions PDF
A well-structured SNAP Series and Progressions Questions PDF brings all the important questions together, so you don't have to search through multiple sources during revision.
A good PDF should cover previous-year SNAP questions, expected questions, concept-wise practice sets on AP, GP, HP and special series, and step-by-step solutions. The solutions matter most, because they show you the fastest method and help you build your own shortcuts.
Use the PDF for timed practice. Set a fixed time for each set, then review every wrong answer and note whether the mistake came from a formula gap, a calculation slip or misreading the question. This habit will help you avoid repeating the same errors in the actual SNAP exam.
How to Solve These Top 20 SNAP Series and Progressions Questions
Master the AP formulas: The nth term is a + (n − 1)d and the sum of n terms is n/2 × [2a + (n − 1)d]. If the sum is given as a function of n, the nth term is Sₙ − Sₙ₋₁.
Learn the GP formulas: The nth term is arⁿ⁻¹ and the sum of n terms is a(rⁿ − 1)/(r − 1). For an infinite GP with |r| < 1, the sum is a/(1 − r). Dividing two terms of a GP removes a and gives r directly.
Use the middle-term trick: For three numbers in AP, take them as a − d, a, a + d. For three numbers in GP, take them as a/r, a, ar. This cancels terms instantly when the sum or product is given.
Know the AM, GM and HM relations: AM = (a + b)/2, GM = √ab and HM = 2ab/(a + b). For two positive numbers, AM ≥ GM ≥ HM and GM² = AM × HM. An HP is simply an AP of reciprocals.
Remember the special sums: Σn = n(n + 1)/2, Σn² = n(n + 1)(2n + 1)/6 and Σn³ = [n(n + 1)/2]². Series like 1/(1·2) + 1/(2·3) + … collapse quickly using the telescoping form 1/k − 1/(k + 1).
Spot number series patterns fast: Check differences first, then second differences, then ratios. Look for squares, cubes, n² ± 1, n(n + 1), ×2 + 1 and alternating patterns, which cover most SNAP missing-number and wrong-number questions.
Analyse your mistakes regularly: Keep a short error log. Progression errors often repeat, such as using n instead of (n − 1), mixing up the first term, or missing a second valid value of n.
