Question 101

If the resulting numbers be the consecutive terms of Harmonic Progression, then what number should be added to the numbers 8, 10, 14?

Let the number subtracted be x. Hence, the terms are 8-x, 10-x, and 14-x.

10-x = $$\ \frac{\ 2\left(8-x\right)\left(14-x\right)}{8-x+14-x}$$

On cross multiplying, we get x as -2.
